ASIA/ENST/CHINA 313 and 313ES is a Colgate University course that focuses on environmental challenges and the corresponding challenges to these in the People’s Republic of China. It take an interdisciplinary approach to environmentalism and it seeks to challenge students to examine the ways in which environmental problems are caused and then the resultant consequences.

The course also takes an interesting pedagogical approach by encouraging students to talk across differences. The technique used is Intergroup dialogue (IGD). The course is taught by Prof. Carolyn Hsu a Sociologist and Prof. April K Baptiste, an Environmental StudiesĀ scholar.

The course culminates with a 16 day trip to two locations in the People’s Republic of China.
